Jumping Therapy
Haiden, a 6 year old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Global Development Delay has significant sensory processing difficulties. He has very few words and is currently functioning around the 2 year old level. Haiden benefits from more sensory input, such as movement or deep pressure, to remain alert and have a sense of where his body is and to meet his need for sensory input.
Therapists from Disability Services Commission have indicated to Haiden’s mother an activity that has proven particularly successful is jumping on a trampoline, as this allows Haiden to seek movement and deep pressure through his joints and assist him in remaining calm, focused and more socially responsive. ToyBox International purchased a trampoline for Haiden through Variety WA to have in his own backyard which now allows him to carry out his therapy whenever he needs to.
