A REGIONAL RESPITE PILOT FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS WA
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common, life-limiting genetic condition affecting Australians. Over 3,730 people are living with Cystic Fibrosis inAustralia. Sharon Dewar joined Cystic Fibrosis WA in 2013 as a Community Support Worker. She explains that they are the friendly constant who turns up each week and more often when the child or teen is unwell or when a little more help is needed.
The Community Support Worker ensures treatments are completed effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner with a pinch of fun, laughter and enthusiasm. They work with the client and their family to establish routines and work with the client to develop independence and ownership.
Thanks to your generosity, ToyBox was able to fund $26,205 towards a Regional Respite Pilot for children and families with respiratory conditions, giving workers like Sharon the ability to help those who otherwise wouldn't have access to any support.
